This is a replica of one of my favorite coins, Loretta. As a replica, it is worth essentially nothing. What it represents is an large silver coin called an Eight Reales from the Spanish Colony of Mexico. The large M and small o means 'Mexico' on coins, even today.
When the Spanish colonized the New World they exploited the large silver and gold deposits in Mexico and South America. To transport the booty to Spain, they minted the precious metal into coins like this one. When pirates captured these coins, or when ships carrying them sunk, treasure coins were born. The term Piece of Eight comes from the Spanish denomination of Eight Reales. Coins like this circulated throughout the New World. The infant United States adopted the Spanish silver dollar as a standard for their coinage.
So your coin has a lot of history, Loretta. But it does not have any value. For more info, click to this CoinQuest link.
