These old shillings are made of silver and carry catalog values like this:
worn: $25 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $80
well preserved: $400
fully uncirculated: $850
All the dates are about equally valuable. The coin in our picture has picked up brown toning from impurities in the atmosphere. This will generally lower value over normal, silver-colored coins.
Catalog value is an inflated value. Read our Terminology page to understand how to interpret catalog value.
BTW, our picture is a great example of a coin with lots of wear, but still good eye appeal. Collectors are usually willing to pay premium prices for coins with nice looks. They enjoy adding such coins to their collections.
