Some collectors insist on fully uncirculated, dazzling super-sheen coins for their collections. Not me. I like coins with great eye appeal, circulated or uncirculated, and the Norwegian krone in this picture qualifies. I think it is a nice looking coin. You may disagree.
Norway minted these coins in copper-nickel between 1925 and 1951. Mintages were quite low, and this drives price up. There is a break point in value at 1938, as follows
1 KRONE 1925 TO 1938
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $5
well preserved: $50
fully uncirculated: $250
1 KRONE 1939 TO 1951
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: less than $1
well preserved: $5
fully uncirculated: $25
As always on CoinQuest, please apply the concepts outlined on our Important Terminology page when interpreting catalog values.
