Here are two interesting coins from British India: 1/48th of a rupee, also known as a dub, and 1/96th of a rupee, or 1/2 dub. The coin in our picture sold at auction for about $200 US dollars. This is a typical price for a coin in nice shape.
The catalogs are not much help with these coins. They show very low prices and, spot checking recent sales, they are way off in their estimates of value. We put forth CoinQuest's estimate of catalog value which apply to all dates and both 1/48 and 1/96 denomination, as follows:
worn: $60
average circulated: $120
well preserved: $280
fully uncirculated: $800
