Guernsey 1, 2, 4, and 8 Doubles 1830 to 1949

Guernsey 1, 2, 4, and 8 Doubles 1830 to 1949

Guernsey produced these nice-looking, large, bronze coins from 1830 to 1949. The double denomination is worth less than a penny, like a farthing in the UK, with 8 doubles in one penny. There are variation in the design, but all the coins on this page have the shield with 3 lions, at least one wreath (sometimes two), and the denomination spelled out in large letters.

Not surprising, the older coins are worth more than the newer coins. But, all in all, these are not trememdously valuable coins. If you can find fully uncirculated examples, which is a tough thing to do, then the values go up.

Here are some approximate catalog values for these neat coins.
