Another neat Greek coin. These 30 drachmai celebrating the wedding of Constantine and Anne-Marie contain 0.322 troy ounces of silver, and that gives them a starting point for value. They cannot be worth less than the value of the silver they contain. To find this base value (BV), multiply the current price of silver (available at kitco.com) by 0.322. For instance, if silver selling at $30 US dollars per troy ounce, then the BV of this coin is 0.322 x 30 = $9.60 US dollars. The price of silver changes every day, so be sure to look it up.
In addition to the silver base value, some collectors will pay a premium to add one of these coins to their collections. Typical catalog values run like this:
worn: BV
average circulated: BV
well preserved: BV + $8 US dollars approximate catalog value
fully uncirculated: BV + $20
