Ghana 2 1/2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 Pesewas 1967 to 1984

Ghana 2 1/2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 Pesewas 1967 to 1984

The African republic of Ghana started issuing coins in 1958. Many of their coins will appeal to chocolate lovers, because one of their favorite themes is the cocoa bean. This page applies to coins with the cocoa beans and shield design. Other designs are also prevalent, but this page does not apply to them.

All these coins are low value. They are made of bronze or copper nickel. The 2 1/2 pesewas has wavy edges. Catalog values for all denominations and dates are all less than $1 US dollar each unless the coin is in fully uncirculated condition. Then the catalog values rise to a few US dollars.
