India Religious Token, Rupee of Akbar

India Religious Token, Rupee of Akbar

This is an Islamic Temple Token from India. With the help of the experts at World of Coins [Press Here], it turns out to be a copy of a square rupee of Akbar. According to Numista, the date of manufacture is 1914. The Islamic statement of faith (the Kalima) appears inside the square, with names of four Khalifas (deputies, successors, stewards) Abu Bakr, Umar, Usman and Ali are written on four corners. On the other image, the second line of the legend reads Muahammad Akbar Badshah, but this is not a coin of Akbar. It is a token.

Since this item is a recent issue as a token, the value is low:

worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $4
well preserved: $8
fully uncirculated: $15

CoinQuest thanks Gaurav for his interesting inquiry and use of his coin photos, as well as the World of Coin contributors.
