US Pony Express Centennial 1960

Medal US Pony Express Centennial 1960

They didn't have FedEx, so in the old days fast horses were the best alternative. There are *tons* of medals and medallions honoring the popular and romantic Pony Express. An eBay search produces hundreds of hits with almost as many different designs. The one pictured is particularly popular. It celebrates the 100th year of the Express.

Typical retail values for these medals run between $5 US dollars, for a worn and unappealing medal, to $25 for a fully uncirculated specimen with good eye appeal.

Selling an uncirculated medal to a coin dealer would probably bring $5 to $10. Since they are not coins, they are not as heavily collected and more difficult to sell. This make the large retail mark-up necessary.
