Italy Tuscany 5 and 10 Lire 1803 to 1807

Italy Tuscany 5 and 10 Lire 1803 to 1807

On the 1807 coin the inscriptions are nicely separated. On coins dated before 1907 the inscriptions tend to run together and are difficult to interpret.

These 5 and 10 lire coins come from the old Italian State of Tuscany. The example in our picture is in beautiful shape and sold recently at Goldberg Auctions for over $1000. CoinQuest thanks Goldbergs for use of their image. It is a beauty!

Typical catalog values run like this:

5 LIRE (33 mm diameter)
worn: $100 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $200
well preserved: $400
fully uncirculated: $800

10 LIRE (43 mm diameter)
worn: $100 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $250
well preserved: $500
fully uncirculated: $1000

As always on CoinQuest, you must apply corrections to these values based on our Terminology page.
