New Zealand Dollar 1981

New Zealand Dollar 1981

New Zealand started minting silver dollars in copper-nickel and in silver in 1977. The regular 'business strike' version of the coin is minted in copper-nickel and is worth face value. The proof version (like the spiffy one in our picture) is minted in silver, containing 0.809 troy ounces of the precious metal.

If you have a normal coin, it is worth face value. If you have a silver proof, it is worth 0.809 times the current price of silver. Look up the silver price at kitco.com.
