US Eisenhower Ike Dollar 1971 to 1978

These are big, bold, beautiful coins. But they are not worth very much. All Ike dollars that you find in circulation are worth face value, i.e., they are worth one US dollar. Only when they are fully uncirculated and protected in a holder of some kind does the value go up slightly. Some of the dates contain silver, but most do not. A proof coin like the one in the picture can carry a small premium value. Proof coins are special coins made only for collectors; they do not enter circulation.

The coin in the picture is the bicentennial version, with the Liberty bell and the moon on the reverse. Other dates have an eagle making a soft landing on the moon, as shown in our secondary picture.
