These cool dodecagonal (12-sided) coins were minted in nickel-brass from 1953 to 1974 for circulation on the Seychelles, at the time a British crown colony (they later gained their independence, in 1976).
These coins are mostly low-value, as outlined in the approximate catalog values given below:
worn: less than $1 US Dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: less than $1
well preserved: less than $1
fully uncirculated: $1
There are also some better dates.
The values below are for coins in fully, absolutely uncirculated condition:
1953: $3
1965: $10
1967: $20 (the best of the series.)
1969: $7 (your coin, Joseph!)
1970: $4
These values only apply to coins that are not scratched, bent, stained, or suffer from other problems. Be sure to check out the 'Important Terminology' page on the top left to properly interpret these catalog values.
