Fortunately for CoinQuest, there's World of Coins. It is a great numismatic (coin collector) forum with a lot of resident expertise. Malj1 posted this observation about this token:
The SAG - South Australian Government - Departmental Currency was used at the Magill Reformatory in South Australia; it is believed to have been used c1900-10. The boys were moved here in 1891 from their increasingly damp dormitories on the 'Fitzjames' a Canadian three masted ship, initially used as a quarantine hulk and later refitted as a reformatory ship for 'uncontrollable' boys who were wards of the state. Denominations known are 1 mark, 5, 10, 20, 30 and 60 marks. So these pieces have a lot of history behind them.
