United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates 10 Fils 1973 to 1989

The United Arab Emirates (east of Saudi Arabia, south of Qatar and Oman) started minting its own coins in 1973. All UAE coins are modern coins and are worth face value. These 10 fils coins with the sailboat catalog for less than $1 US dollar in circulated condition, rising to $2 in fully uncirculated condition.

The coin in our picture has picked up some spiffy toning. This was probably caused by exposure to some type of airborne corrosive substance. Sometimes collectors will pay a little more for nicely toned coins, but most of the time collectors prefer untoned, 'natural color' coins to add to their collections.
