The Belgian Congo, in the heart of Africa, was a colony of Belgium from 1925 to 1960. Prior to that it was a free state under Leopold II of Belgium and afterwards became a full republic. The BELGISCH CONGO coins were minted in conjunction with Ruanda-Urundi, today's Rwanda.
These coin are made of copper-nickel, and therefore carry no precious metal value. However, they are very difficult to find in well preserved condition. Most of them you see are well worn. The prices go up with better condition.
