Hello, Linda -- You did not tell us the denomination of your gold coin. There are three of them:
100 DOLLARS: with building, 0.202 troy ounces gold
250 DOLLARS: with locked hands, 0.500 ounces gold
500 DOLLARS: with lion, 1.000 ounces gold
Like all modern gold commemoratives, these are worth their weight in gold. Multiply the troy ounce measure above by the current price, found at web sites such as kitco.com. At, say, $1400 US dollars per troy ounce, the $250 coin would be worth $700.
If you have a perfect, fully uncirculated coin, you can add a few dollars (maybe $10 or so) to the value.
