Korea 1 and 5 Fun, 1/4, 1, and 5 Yang, and 1 Whan 1892 to 1900

The coin in our picture is a 5 yang sold by Heritage Auctions for $1150 US dollars in 2013. We have included a larger picture at the bottom of this page so you can see all the detail in this cool design.

The fun, yang, and whan coins all have the same dragon on the front, but the backs have slightly different patterns. All these coins are valuable if they are genuine pieces. Assembling a collection of these would be a challenging and fulfilling task for any serious collector

The dates on these coins are given in dynasty year, with year 501 being 1892AD. Some years are much more valuable than others, so you must carefully read the dates to be sure.

Our listings below give very approximate catalog values. Be sure you know that your coin is genuine, as there are plenty of fakes in the world of Asian coins. If you have a nice specimen, take it to a coin dealer or knowledgeable collector who you trust for an in-person appraisal.
