Senegal is its own country today, and they mint several beautiful coins in gold and silver. But back before 1960 Senegal was essentially a colony of France and, in 1920, they issued several denominations of token-like coinage in aluminum and, sometimes, copper-nickel and brass.
These coins are either round or octagonal, and they all depict a marine scene with ships, ocean waves, and a prominent anchor in the foreground. These coins are valuable today, especially in high grades.
The listings below give approximate catalog values for coins that are free from damage such as gouges, nicks, scratches, stains, cleanings, and similar problems. These coins were minted for cities of Dakar, Kayes, Rufisque, and Ziquinchor.
