Hello again, Mel -- Looking back through your prior requests, you have assembled a nice collection of old Mexican coins from the Revolution and early Republic years. You should really invest in a good coin catalog. There is easily 1000 times more information in a coin catalog than on this web site. If you don't buy one, consider visiting your local library.
Mel's coin is a 1/8 real from the Mexican city of Durango. These were made in the First Republic era with two inscriptions: ESTADO DE DURANGO and DEPARTAMENTO DE DURANGO. They are difficult to find in good condition.
worn: $10 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $55
well preserved: $400
Coins dated 1845 are worth a lot more than the values above. Figure $375 for an 1845 in average circulated condition. Likewise coins dated 1854 are worth more: about $100 in average circulated.
