Germany Reichsbank Direktorium Gold Plated Souvenirs 1888

Germany Reichsbank Direktorium Gold Plated Souvenirs 1888

These are neat-looking coins. But they are worth about zero. Bordering (or perhaps not bordering) on illegal, they are modern coins made of brass which has been plated with a super-thin layer of pure (0.999) gold. There is essentially no gold at all in the coin. You can buy them for a few US dollars.

Reichsbank Direktorium Aachen means 'Board of the Empire Bank in Aachen.' Aachen is a modern tourist town in western Germany. There are several variations of this coin, all worth essentially zero. They make nice souvenirs and will puzzle coin collectors for years to come.
