China 1, 2, and 5 Fen 1955 to 2011

The People's Republic of China has been minting these 1, 2, and 5 fen coins in aluminum since 1955. Other denominations, such as 1 and 5 jiao and 1 yuan have similar patterns, but this page applies only to the fen denominations which look exactly like our picture.

These are all low-value coins. In circulated condition all dates catalog below $1 US dollar. For uncirculated specimens, some of the older dates start to pick up a little value, like this:
