The LIVERPOOL SHIPWRECK & HUMANE SOCIETY makes honorary awards of medals, parchments, certificates and letters of commendation to people who voluntarily put their own lives or safety at risk by saving or attempting to save other people who are in danger in cases of shipwreck, drowning, fire or any other hazards. The compelling artwork on the Society's medals shows a man on a spar of wreckage, taking an inert child from it's drowning mother.
Typical silver versions of these medals command excellent value, roughly as follows:
SILVER MEDALS
worn: $100 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $300
well preserved: $400
fully uncirculated: $500
Medals are issued in bronze, silver, and gold:
BRONZE: Divide silver values by two
GOLD: Multiply silver values by four
These values must be tempered using the concepts presented on our Terminology page. Be careful, however, that you have a genuine, original medal. See below:
