India 1/2, 1 1/2, and 2 Pice 1791 to 1794

These coins come from India under British influence during a period known as the Bombay Presidency. They are made of copper, but sometimes you find them with a gold plating. If you have a gold plated specimen, it is rare and more valuable than the standard copper issues as shown in our picture.

Note to Melville -- It is probably time for you to get some good coin catalogs. You can find them at your library or bookstore or amazon.com. It sounds like your coin was struck on a too-small planchet. This will add some value as an error coin, but not too much, maybe $10.
