This may be your coin, Bill. It features the large flower in the center with three logograms above and below it on one side, and a large 50 with more logograms above and below on the other side.
It was, however, not struck in aluminum, but in nickel. (If this is not your coin, Bill, you are welcome to submit a new appraisal request, and we'll try again!) It was produced in the 30th through to the 33rd year of the Showa period, which corresponds to 1955-1958 of our calendar. See below for dates:
三十 = year 30, 1955
三十一 = year 31, 1956
三十?' = year 32, 1957
三十三 = year 33, 1958
The cool pattern of Japanese numerals starts to emerge!
The catalog values are low today, as listed below. Fully uncirculated coins do start to pick up a little value, but the typical specimen will not be worth much.
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $1
well preserved: $2
fully uncirculated: $15
coins dated year 33 catalog at $25 when fully uncirculated
Cleaned, holed, corroded or otherwise damaged coins will be worth nothing. Check out our Important Terminology page on the top left in order to properly interpret the catalog values listed on this page.
