These one qirsh coins were minted in Egypt between 1896 (Abdul Hamid II, AH1293 year 22) and 1906 (Muhammad V, AH1327 year 6). The graphics near the bottom of this page tells you how to find the date of your specific coin. The coin in our main picture to the left is dated AH1327 + 6 = AH = AH1333 = 1913AD. See below for more information about dates.
They are made of copper nickel and some of them carry decent numismatic (coin collector) value, especially in high grades.
Here are some approximate catalog values:
worn: $3 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $8
well preserved: $20
fully uncirculated: $40
There are some better dates. In the list below, the values after the dates are for coins in well preserved condition.
AH1293/22 = 1896AD: $60
AH1293/27 = 1901AD: $35
AH1293/30 - 1904AD: $40
AH1327/3 = 1911AD: $100
To date these coins, you can go to IslamicFinder.org to convert between Muslim and Gregorian dates. Muslim dates are called Hijri dates and start around the time Mohammed was alive (600 AD) and use a lunar year with 354 days, so converting between AH (Hijri) dates and AD dates takes a little work.
