This coin type with the flying fish and a bust of Elizabeth II was struck for only one year. The coins were minted in bronze. The reverse with the flying fish was conceived by William Gardner, who also designed the well-known 7-sided British 20 pence coin with the crowned rose.
The catalog values remain very low today for these modern coins with a mintage in the millions. Circulated specimens will rarely be worth even a single US dollar, unless they have great eye appeal. Outstanding specimens that are fully uncirculated may sell to a collector for $2 to $3.
