Venezuela started minting 25 and 50 centimos with this Bolivar and shield pattern in 1954 and continued through 1990. The early dates contain silver; the rest are made of nickel.
25 CENTIMOS 1954 to 1960: 0.034 troy ounces silver
50 CENTIMOS 1954 to 1960: 0.067 troy ounces silver
To figure the base value (BV) of the silver coins, multiply the current price of silver by the silver content. At the time of this writing, silver is worth $21.80 US dollars per troy ounce, so the BV of a 25 centimos is 21.80 x 0.034 = 74 US cents. The BV of a 50 centimos is twice that. Be sure to look up the current price of silver (see kitco.com), it changes every day.
For uncirculated coins, there is a small numismatic premium to add to BV:
25 and 50 CENTIMOS 1954 to 1960:
worn: BV
average circulated: BV
well preserved: BV
fully uncirculated: BV + $1
Other dates contain no silver, so their value is low
25 and 50 CENTIMOS 1965 to 1990:
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: less than $1
well preserved: less than $1
fully uncirculated: $1
