These are jetons, or tokens used for counting or playing games. LUD means 'Louis' for King Louis XV of France. They come with numerous patterns and inscriptions and are made of different metals, including precious silver. Most are non-precious. Originals date back to the time of Louis XV (mid 1700s) but they are still made today. Rebecca's Artesia Comitia token is an original bronze specimen, as shown in the primary photo.
There are far more coin collectors than token collectors, so demand for jetons is small. This keeps prices low. As always, tokens with little wear and good eye appeal bring more money when sold. The secondary image shows some of the typical variations.
