In the old Norway monetary system there were 120 skilling species in one specie daler. Between 1819 and 1834 low denomination coins were minted with a lion-crest-crown design on the front and the explicit call-out of the denomination on the back. Compositions were:

4 SKILLING SPECIES: Silver (0.024 troy ounces per coin)
8 SKILLING SPECIES: Silver (0.054 ounces)
24 SKILLING SPECIES: Silver (0.161 ounces)
