Token Germany Notgeld Weissenfels 1918 to 1920
After the first world war, many areas in Germany were suffering from a shortage of small change, so private industries produced 'notgeld' to relieve the shortage. Weissenfels had approximately 35,000 inhabitants in 1920. Some amount of 10 and 50 pfennig notgeld tokens were minted for use as local currency. The values of both denominations are about the same:
