Germany 50 Reichspfennig (Nickel) 1938 and 1939
One of the ways the newly installed Nazi party flexed its political muscle in Germany was to issue new 1938 and 1939 50 pfennig coins with a special pattern and a swatsika under the eagle. The design is similar to, but not exactly the same as, the predecessor and successor 50 pfennigs, which had been minted since 1927 and continued until 1944.
There are several coins which look similar and carry identical inscriptions. Be sure you have the right one. Their metallic composition is different, and, sometimes, their date ranges are different. Click on yours.
