Belgium 1/4, 1/2, 1, and 2 Francs 1833 to 1844

These old coins from Belgium were minted from 1833 to 1844 with the effigy of the monarch, Leopold of Belgium on the obverse, and the wreathed date and denomination on the reverse.

CoinQuest thanks eBay seller liancollect for use of their coin photo. It is a nice coin without any problems like scratches, stains, spots, or cleanings; a fine addition to any collection.

DO NOT CLEAN YOUR COIN. CLEANING RUINS VALUE.

These values, like all CoinQuest values, are approximations. The main differentiator in this series is the condition of the coin. In well preserved condition, without any problems, all dates are valuable.

As with *all* valuable coins, you must beware of counterfeits.

*Sometimes medal rotation makes coins more valuable. To find out if your coin uses coin rotation or medal rotation, hold the coin right-side up between your thumb and index finger. Your thumb should be at the bottom of the coin and your index finger should be at the top, just over the king's head. Now flip the coin from left to right, like turning the page of a book. If the reverse side is up-side down, then you have coin rotation. If it is right-side up, you have medal rotation.

Michael, you should consider having your coin certified and graded by a numismatic service like PCGS, NGC, ICG or ANACS. Do not use other services.
