Tunisia is a small Islamic country located across the Mediterranean Sea from Italy, on the north coast of Africa. It was part of the Ottoman (Turkish) Empire and then a French protectorate before becoming independent in 1955.
Tunisia 1 dinar coins are minted in non-precious copper-nickel. The front side of these coins shows a pretty woman in a forest setting. The back side show different patterns:
1976 to 1983: Head of Habib Bourguiba
1988 to 1990: Map of Tunisia
1997 to 2011: Shield within circle (shown in our picture)
Value-wise, modern coins all carry very low values. The catalog values go like this:
worn: $1 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $2
well preserved: $4
fully uncirculated: $8
These are catalog values and must be adjusted downward to obtain actual buy and sell values. See our Important Terminology page for information about making these adjustments.
