Hong Kong 5 dollars 1993 to 1998

Hong Kong 5 dollars 1993 to 1998

Chinese took control of Hong Kong from the British in 1997. Before that, in 1993, Hong Kong minted several new coins. On the obverse you can see the bauhinia flower who has been first discovered by a French Catholic Missionary in western Hong Kong. This is a very modern coin made of non precious metal (copper-nickel), and, like all modern coins made of non-precious metal, it is worth face value. A collector might pay up to $4 US dollars for a coin in fully uncirculated condition.
