You have done a great job, Heather, describing a 5 millim coin from the Republic of Sudan. The dates are 1391AH through 1398AH on the Islamic (Hijri) calendar, or 1971AD to 1978AD on the Western (Gregorian) calendar. Material is bronze or brass.
These are beautiful coins and make nice additions to any collection. However, they are modern coins made of non-precious metal and, as such, carry only small value:
worn: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: less than $1
well preserved: $1
fully uncirculated: $4
Smart collectors, in my opinion, should assemble collections of nice-looking coins like this. They are very interesting, and real cheap (for now).
