Venezuela 1 Venezolano 1876

Venezuela 1 Venezolano 1876

Venezuela, officially called the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, is a country on the northern coast of South America. During his lifetime, Simon Bolivar led Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela to independence from Spain. He helped lay the democratic foundations of much of Hispanic America. Most of these countries celebrate Bolivar on their coinage. The catalog values for this type of coin go like this:

1 VENEZOLANO, Grams 25, Lei 900, 37 mm diameter, 0.7234 troy ounces silver
worn: $40 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $250
well preserved: $1200
fully uncirculated: $4000

Remember that the values quoted on this page only apply to coins that are free of issues such as having been cleaned, bent, scratched, stained, holed or anything of the like. Be sure to read the 'Important Terminology' page on the top left to properly interpret these catalog values.

The coin in our picture comes from world-renowned auction house Heritage Auctions where it sold for $3250 in a 2010 auction. The detail and overall appeal of Heritage's coin account for its high selling price. It would probably sell for more today.
