There was not a lot of genuine, government-issued money to go around during the American Civil War (mid 1860s), so private mints issued tokens to support commerce and hammer home political ideas. This Civil Wart Token (as they are called today) commands decent pricing:
worn: $25 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $35
well preserved: $80
fully uncirculated: $300
Requester trooper describes his or her coin with 'little or no wear,' which is unusual. These tokens almost always circulated, and finding one in near uncirculated condition is rare.
