Now that's a nice-looking coin. If you wanted to assemble a collection of modern Tanzanian coins, you would have plenty of pleasing patterns to choose from, and the cost would be low. Modern coins like this are worth very little. Even in fully uncirculated condition a collector might pay as much as $3 for this coin. Circulated coins would sell for much less.
The coin in our picture has picked up a pleasing blue toning, probably from exposure to impurities in the air. This is unusual. Most of these coins are the normal silvery color. They are made of copper-nickel.
