US Northside Lithuanian Republican Alliance (NSLRA) of Philadelphia 1908

Token US Northside Lithuanian Republican Alliance (NSLRA) of Philadelphia 1908

And here I thought Google knew everything. Not so. It took an expert named Tom to figure out this token. The incorrigible web site about tokens, TokenCatalog.com, records its existence, but nothing more. No identification. No definition. No origin. No value.

To evaluate such a piece we must first identify its origin, then find auctions for it, then extract value from the prices realized. For a long time, we failed at the first step. We could not find the origins of the N.S.L.R.A., but Tom did. See: Substack.

The Northside Lithuanian Republican Alliance club for Lithuanian immagrants was founded in 1908 as a fraternal organization "believing that the best interests of citizens and prospective citizens of the United States are to be found in club life and that these people are naturally inclined toward fraternalism." The NSLRA clubhouse was originally located at 1011 Fairmount Avenue but then moved a few blocks to 1218-20 Wallace Street, where the new clubhouse still stands.

The token comes from 1908 and such tokens in poor condition usually sell for $3 to $5 US dollars. In better condition, or, if you happen to know a Lithuanian from the North side of Philly, the value would be more.
