Although Saint George was a real person, the tale of his horse-borne dragon slaying adventure is what makes him famous. You can find him on many coins, especially those of Great Britain and Russia.
These are modern Russian kopeks with St. George slaying the dragon on the reverse side. There are 100 kopeks in a rouble, and, according the xe.com, one rouble is equivalent to about one and one-half US cents at today's exchange rate. A 1 kopek coin, then, is worth about 0.015 US cents, and a 50 kopek coin is worth about three-quarters of a US cent.
Sometimes collectors will pay more than face value for coins they buy for their collections. You can find these coins on eBay where collectors buy them for a few US dollars. To qualify for that high price, however, the coin must be fully uncirculated with great eye appeal.
