New Zealand 1 cent 1967 to 1988

New Zealand 1 cent 1967 to 1988

New Zealand makes a lot of coins with a lot of interesting wild life. This cent have a silver fern leaf on the back, with the reigning British monarch on the front: Elizabeth II.

Circulated coins from this series are worth small amounts: less that a dollar for all dates. A collector may pay as much as $3 US dollars for coin in uncirculated conditions, or even a few dollars more for a proof coin, like the one in our picture. (Note: proof coins are sold by the mint and are made especially for collectors and never enter circulation.) There is one exception, the year 1972, which is somewhat rare. The catalog value for a 1972 New Zealand cent says: $1 dollar for a coin in average condition and $5 US dollars for a coin in uncirculated condition.

These are catalog values. Be sure you understand what this means. Use our Terminology page.
