Medal Italy Scipione l'Africano 1937

In the 1930s Italy's Benito Mussolini had ambitions to invade North Africa. He produced a film called Scipio Africanus: The Defeat of Hannibal as propaganda for this purpose. This bronze medal was given to participants in the film as a souvenir. The film was released in 1937.

Placing values on such a piece is not easy. The one in the picture comes from Militalian.com and is in superb condition. CoinQuest's estimate of value is $100 US dollars or thereabouts. The historical significance, the small mintage, and the excellent condition of Militalian's piece should bring the value to $100 levels, maybe more, probably not less.

CoinQuest thanks Militalian.com for use of its photo. It is an interesting item.
