The piece in our picture is a fairly common gold token from the Mughal Empire in India, dating around AH1000 on the Islamic calendar, about 1600AD on the Gregorian (Western) calendar. It weighs about 10 to 13 grams and is modelled after a Mohur of Akbar, from the Urdu Zafar Qarin mint.
Very approximate catalog values run like this:
worn: $400 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $650
well preserved: $1000
fully uncirculated: $1250
The token in our picture comes from Spink in London where it sold for 550 British pounds (about $800 US dollars) during a 2013 auction.
