Silver rounds are worth their weight in silver. It barely matters who the celebrity is. If it is made out of silver, it is worth its weight in silver. Many rounds have their weight stamped directly into the pattern. Usually it is one troy ounce. Today a troy ounce of silver sells for $17 US dollars. Be sure to look up the price of silver. It changes every day.

But be careful. Just because it looks like silver does not mean it is silver. Never pay silver prices for a round not marked with 0.9999 fine silver, or a similar inscription. If your round is not marked as such, it is probably made of copper or some other base metal. It is not solid silver. It may be plated with silver, but it is not worth its weight in silver.

Also, if you have a silver round and want to sell it to a coin dealer, he or she will usually pay much less than the price of silver. The margin is necessary to keep the dealership afloat. A coin merchant usually pays about one-half of retail price for coins, often less than that.
