In 1987, the Isle of Man issued a coin to commemorate the 200-year anniversary of the United States Constitution. The obverse shows Queen Elizabeth and the reverse design depicts the busts of eleven well known U.S. presidents surrounding the Statue of Liberty.
This coin is made of copper-nickel and weighs 28.47 grams. It is 38.5mm in diameter. While it is an interesting coin to look at, it is not terribly valuable. Here are the approximate catalog values for this coin:
Worn: less than $1 (U.S. dollars)
Average circulated: $1
Well preserved: $2
Fully Uncirculated: $5
It is important to note that two other versions of this coin exist, with the same design: there are platinum and palladium versions that are quite valuable. These coins have the same diameter as the copper-nickel one, however, each of these two valuable versions contain one troy ounce of precious metal (31.1 grams). If you think you might have one of these two versions, the quickest way to find out is to look on the coin -- the precious metal versions of this coin will say 'fine palladium ounce' or 'fine platinum ounce' on the bottom of the reverse.
Based on today's spot prices, the palladium version is worth a minimum of $677.00 (U.S. dollars).
The platinum version is worth a minimum of $1,080.00. If you own one of these rare versions of the coin and want to get a current spot price value, check kitco.com for live prices by PRESSING HERE. Keep in mind that both of these coins will probably command a small premium over the spot value because of their low mintage and desirability.
Please note that all values on this page are approximate catalog values. Be sure you understand how catalog values work. They are inflated values that are normally higher than actual buy and sell values. Refer to our Terminology page for a complete description of catalog values.
