Isle of Man Internment Camp Sixpence, Penny, and Half Penny 1940 and 1941

Token Isle of Man Internment Camp Sixpence, Penny, and Half Penny 1940 and 1941

The Isle of Man is a good place for internment camps. There were several IOM camps during both World Wars. This one is from the Ochan Internment Camp, and the three legs (called a triskelion) on the reverse gives it sure-fire connection to the Isle of Man.

The token in our picture is from Noble Numismatics in Australia. It is a one penny token that is in superb condition. You hardly ever see them this nice. Coupled with its two partner coins, the 6 and 1/2 pennies, Noble sold them at auction for 320 AUD (about $240 US dollars) during a 2009 auction. CoinQuest thanks Noble for use of their coin photo.

Typical catalog values for a set of three tokens, run like this:

SET OF THREE TOKENS, 6d, 1d, 1/2d:
worn: $10 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $50
well preserved: $100
fully uncirculated: $250

Individual tokens would catalog at about one-half the prices above.

Use our Important Terminology page to properly interpret these catalog values.
