I believe, Liew, this is your coin. It is a one dollar (yuan) minted in celebration of the founding of the Chinese Republich in 1912. Li Yuan-Hung appears on the front.
The coin in our picture comes from Baldwin's in London where it sold for $1200 US dollars during a 2015 auction. Baldwin's coin has been cleaned, which lowers the price. It is in a PCGS holder, which (at least partially) eliminates the question of authenticity. The face that it was sold by highly respected Baldwin's puts the authenticity question to bed.
GENUINE COINS:
worn: $500 US dollars approximate catalog value
average circulated: $1000
well preserved: $1500
fully uncirculated: $2500
As with all valuable coins, counterfeits are sure to exist. Always deal with people you trust when buying or selling valuable coins. Trust is built up over months or years of buying and selling. There are no short-cuts.
