Finland 1 Penni and 5 Pennia 1963 to 1990

Finland 1 Penni and 5 Pennia 1963 to 1990

These are nice looking, small denomination coins from Finland. The coins changed composition from copper to aluminum as follows:

1 PENNI IN COPPER: 1963 to 1969
1 PENNI IN ALUMINUM: 1969 to 1979
5 PENNIA IN COPPER: 1963 to 1977
5 PENNIA IN ALUMINUM: 1977 to 1990

As modern coins made of non-precious metal, values are quite low. All of the coins, except one, struggle to reach a few US dollars even in fully uncirculated condition. Here is a summary:

1 PENNI IN COPPER
circulated: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
fully uncirculated: $3

1 PENNI IN ALUMINUM
circulated: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
fully uncirculated: $2
aluminum pennis dated 1969 are somewhat scarce, reaching $3 catalog value when fully uncirculated

5 PENNI IN COPPER
circulated: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
fully uncirculated: $3
copper 5 pennia dated 1964 have the lowest mintage in the series, so collectors look for them; they catalog at $2 in average circulated condition and reach $20 in fully uncirculated

5 PENNI IN ALUMINUM
circulated: less than $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
fully uncirculated: $1

These are all catalog values. Actual buy and sell values are less. Please read our Important Terminology page to properly interpret catalog values.
