The third picture on this page shows a nice-looking replica of this coin. It is probably worth $50 to $100, although finding the right collector might bring more since it is such a great coin.
This is a very rare silver thaler from the old German State of Essen. It shows a cityscape of Essen with St. John's Church, the Cathedral of St. Gertrude, at the forefront and Berne pond with geese. Above the city, in the clouds, the murder of St. Engelbert by soldiers of Frederick of Isenberg is shown. The coin is very rare and very valuable.
I did a search for counterfeits, but could find none. Most rare coins are heavily counterfeited today, so there is always a possibility of fakes.
